Multi-Point Injection

Multi-Point Injection

In multi-point injection (MPI), one injector per cylinder is responsible for metering fuel. The mixture preparation process generally takes place directly before the injector in the intake manifold. Electronically controlled fuel injection ensures optimum mixture preparation in every cylinder. The requirements for a high engine output, low fuel consumption and good emissions characteristics are therefore fulfilled. Multi-point injection achieves this by means of individual mixture preparation in each cylinder, which provides high levels of running smoothness and reduced pollutant emissions.
